Worldstar Packaging Award 2018!

Posted by Mendel Raskin on

Here's something to get excited about -- we've won the Worldstar Packaging Award in the Household category! This award is one of the most prestigious recognitions for packaging innovation. We received the award for being the first company to use recyclate PE materials – much of which is taken from the waste recycling system/Yellow bag in Germany.

At the AIP (Australian Institute of Packaging) National Conference in Queensland the Recyclate Initiative received the WorldStar Packaging Award in the "Household" category for its development of bottles made of 100 percent HDPE recyclates from the Yellow Bag collection system.

On behalf of the project, partners from our parent company Werner & Mertz, GmbH and ALPLA Werke Alwin Lehner GmbH & Co KG accepted the award from Professor Pierre Pienaar, president of the World Packaging Organisation.

Plastic can and should be re-used, as we continue to prove with our packaging innovations. It is a valuable raw material and shouldn´t be burned as waste or thrown away – not to end up finally in world´s oceans! Frosch uses recycled plastic from the waste collection system (in Germany: Yellow bag) to produce new PET bottles. The result? Our bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic, that are 100% recyclable and therefore keep in recycling circulation.
